The following items are needed to support current PML projects. Please let us know if you can contribute or have an inexpensive source:

For the PML/PGL Office

  • A TV/VCR/DVD player and CD burner for the PML/PGL office
  • A video camera and a digital camera

Medical Supplies

Medical supplies which anyone may be able to procure for hand-carried delivery by any of this year’s delegations are listed below. (Please, no expired medicines or supplies. They will not be sent down.)

  • For diarrhea » oral re-hydration solution & acetaminophen.
  • Supplies: nebulizers, crutches, suturing kits (a 5-piece kit with straight and curved hemostats, scissors, needle and suture material.
  • Thermometers in Celsius
  • Measuring tapes in centimeters
  • Small scales for babies and bulb syringes for cleaning air passages

Please keep in mind that a number of people will be traveling this year, expecting to carry suitcases filled with the above donated items as their carry-on luggage. It’s our most economical way to get needed meds and supplies down to Nicaragua. We expect to have up to thirty suitcases, waiting to be filled with these medical, and other, supplies so greatly needed.

School Supplies for Teachers and Students

especially smaller items

  • Pens, pencils, erasers, small pencil sharpeners, scissors.
  • 3M Post-Its and stickers to delight and motivate students; colored pencils, washable markers, items for art projects.
  • Books and pamphlets in Spanish on topics teachers can use for ideas and inspiration and for projects requiring simple, natural tools & materials.

Other Material Aid Needs

  • Clean, used clothing in excellent condition, suitable to sell for profit by community groups in León Light-weight given León is in a tropical zone. Helpful if sorted.
  • Condoms

Donations can be dropped off in our designated suitcase at the Café of the Americas, 3019 Minnehaha Avenue, Minneapolis. Or, to make arrangements for larger items, please call Denise Roy at 612-408-3582.

Please: No opened or expired medicine. Avoid notebooks and binders since they are heavy and bulky. If PML purchases these in León, we save carrying space and put money into the León economy!
